Out with the old and in with the new.
Times change. Styles change.
I think a lot of people assume they are stuck with the way their home looks unless they spend a fortune and reconstruct things. But it really is amazing what a little bit of paint can do! I’ll never get tired of people telling me how our painting work dramatically changed the look of their room or house.
We just finished a job where all of the trim in the home was stained wood. It wasn’t a bad look but it seemed a little dated. The homeowners were on the younger side and had a baby on the way so they wanted to brighten things up a bit. We decided painting the trim white would do the trick.
As you can see it was a little challenging in the living room because the ceiling was also stained wood. To save time and stay in the homeowner’s budget we decided to spray on the paint. This saved us from having to sand down the polyurethane and brushing/rolling all the woodwork. We masked off all of the surfaces not being painted and first applied an adhesion primer. It was quick drying so we were able to spray on the finish coat a few hours later.
After spraying on the finish coat we removed all the tape and plastic and painted the walls in a subtle but warming grey. All in all it took one full day to complete and we were really happy with the results. The room was transformed. The space was brighter and more contemporary but still maintained its charm.
So, the next time you think your house is stuck in another era think again!
Just imagine the possibilities!
